SNOW & ICE EMERGENCIES
The power may go out like it did Jan 26th, 2011 for some of us.  Don't forget to stock up on batteries, flash lights,
bottled water, extra blankets, food that you can prepare without electricity.  Have a battery operated radio handy
so you can listen to the news.

The number to call to report power outages to BGE:

877-778-2222  < < < Store it in your cell phone now!

For more visit our Emergency Preparedness page.

Don't forget to prepare for being stuck on the road.  Have in the car:  Snacks, Batteries, Flashlight, Sand/Salt,
Small metal shovel, Blanket, Water, Ice Scrapper.

When you hear a storm of any type is coming be sure to charge up your cell phone.  Also consider getting a car
charger for your cell phone.  If the power does go out you can alway then recharger your phone via your car
charger if needed.
Did you know...

When emergenies happen, Baltimore County will usually broadcast important updates to
residents via the county website, as well as Twitter@BACOemergency.

It is very easy to sign up for Twitter and there is no charge.
www.Twitter.com/BACOemergency.
With twitter, you do not have to "tweet," (i.e., post anything), but having an account will allow you to
access the emergency information.  All of the County's BACOemergency tweets are also
simultaneously posted on the County website at
www.baltimorecountymd.gov/emergency.

I highly encourage you to sign up, and/or follow the twitter page.  These days, many cell phones
have apps which will provide access to twitter.  Thus, even in the event of a power outage, (which
are not uncommon with storms), having a twitter account may be a very useful tool.  You do not
need the apps if you just would like to receive the text message information on your phone.

All of the County's BACOemergcy tweets are also simultaneously posted on the County website at
www.baltimorecountymd.gov/emergency.
