About Citizens On Patrol

Citizens on Patrol has applied for grant money from Baltimore County to purchase some new equipment for our group.  We
also need more volunteers to patrol.  This is a very simple way of doing something good for your community.  Recently, we have
been asked, "What does COP do?"  We are extra eyes and ears for the police.  We patrol our streets making anyone in the area
aware that people are on the lookout for suspicious people and situations.  We call 911 if we see anything that needs to be
reported.  It is easy and usually boring, but if we stop a criminal from breaking into your home; it is worth the time we put into it.
If your home, shed, or garage has ever been  broken into, then you understand.  We want to keep the criminals out of CCE.  If
they see us patrolling with our signs, they may leave the area in order not to get caught.  This is what we want.

Did you know that you can get on a list that will tell you what is happening from the police department?
You can subscribe to get this email at:
http://www.baltimorecountymd.gov/subscribe/index.html

You can also go online and see the Sex offenders web site at:
www.dpscs.state.md.us

We will train you as a member of COP.  You can attend the PCR meeting each month if you would like to get more involved, but
this is not necessary.  You can also patrol any time of the day or night.  Most break ins happen during the day when no one is at
home.  If you won't consider joining our group, then be a "Nosey Neighbor."  Watch out for your neighbors property while they
are away and call 911 if you see any suspicious.  Criminals, usually, scope out the areas and property before they break in.
They do not want to get caught.

We need more volunteers for our patrols.  Why not give us a try.  Do something good for your community.  You can participate
with our group by patrolling in your vehicle or walking.  You can volunteer, walk your dog and get some exercise at the same
time.  You can volunteer a lot of time or very little time.  We need to get the message out that we have people who are
throughout our community, helping the police.  We get involved by calling 911 if we see anyone who is acting suspicious, or if
we see anyone who is in trouble.  We do not do the work of the police, but we call them if we see a problem and report it.
Neither our Citizens on Patrol, nor the police can be everywhere all the time, but if we work together, we can do more good for
our community.  Things are good in our community and we want to keep them that way.  To get involved, send in your name and
phone number to C.O.P., P.O. Box 32, Reist. MD   21136.

NOTICE TO RESIDENTS ABOUT SEXUAL OFFENDERS
Every month, at our board meetings, we have on the table a binder of notices
regarding sexual offenders in this area. This information is available for all
residents to view. Pictures of these individuals along with current addresses
are kept on file for anyone to see. If you are interested in viewing this data, please
attend one of our monthly meetings. The Sex Offender Registry Team of the Baltimore
County Police department sends us the information on a regular basis.

Has a sex offender moved into your neighborhood?
Don't be the last to know.
Call the Maryland Sex offender Alert Line
1-866-559-8017 (Toll-Free)

Call the Maryland Sex Offender Alert Line and enter your phone number and zip code.  When the Department of Public Safety
and Correctional Services receives notice that a registered sex offender is moving into that area, you will receive a notification
call.  You will then be directed to the Maryland Sex Offender Registry at
www.socem.info
for more information. This website is provided for public safety and awareness, to alert
possible victims of potential danger.

You can also go online and see the Sex offenders web site at:
www.dpscs.state.md.us

Sex/criminal offenders have always lived in our communities, only in recent years have laws been passed which require
convicted offenders to register with authorities.  Unfortunately, many convicted offenders do re-offend. Through the Maryland Sex
Offender Alert Line you can receive a phone call when a convicted sex offender moves into your zip code area.

We (CCECA) are providing you with this information because of the number of
convicted sex offenders that are living in the zip code areas,
21136 (Reisterstown) and 21117 (Owings Mills).

Residents, you need to get involved and know your neighbor.

A book from the Sex Offender Registry is available to view all the monthly CCE board meetings. The PCR meetings are held on
the 3rd Tuesday of each month. These are very informative and offer residents information about crime trends and problems in
this area. They are held at the Franklin Precinct 03, 606 Nicodemus Road, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
